Jammu, Sep 2 (UNI) The economy in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir suffered a huge loss of Rs 9,980 crore during the two-month long agitation over the Amarnath land controversy, official sources here today said.
''Industrial and tourism sectors remained the worst suffererrs during the 62-day long agitation as losses of tourism trade were calculated at Rs 3,050 crore while industrial sector remained the most hit by the turmoil with losses of Rs 4,050 crore,'' an official sources from Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) told UNI.
The sources further said that the losses suffered by transport and automobile sectors are Rs 750 crore while the agriculture sector suffered Rs 980 crore.
''The state and the central government should restore the excise incentives for the industry while there are apprehensions of more losses in the industrial sector due to the shortage of skilled labour,'' the sources maintained.
