Corrupt Village Panchyat Secretary sentenced to jail
Bangalore, Sep 2 (UNI) District and Sessions Court of Raichur has sentenced a Village Panchyat Secretary to a six month jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 2000, for accepting a bribe for showing an official favour.
According to a Lokayukta press release, village Panchyat Secretary Khamar Begum had demanded Rs 4000 as a bribe from Eranna to issue subsidy cheques of Rs 10,000 each under Swarna Jayanti Rozgar Yojana. The case was booked by Lok Ayukta on October ten, 2005.
The Lok Ayukta police today nabbed Narasimha Murthy, Senior Inspector of Jegarkal PHC in the same district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 from a person to sanction pending Travel Allowance Bills.
