Capt Mohan nominated as National Shipping Board Chairman
Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Capt P V K Mohan has been nominated as the Chairman of the National Shipping Board for two years with immediate effect.
According to a press release here he is the fourth from Andhra Pradesh to head the Board.
Capt Mohan, who has an experience of 30 years in shipping, is the youngest and also the first master mariner to become the Chairman of the National Shipping Board.
He recently chaired the Shipping Ministry's High-Powered Committee on Containerisation and had given several recommendations to the government for the Ports of Kolkata (Diamond Harbour), Chennai, JNPT, Ennore and other ports in the country.
He has also represented the country at the International Maritime Organisation in London.
Capt Mohan heads the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India and is also the Vice-President of International Billiards and Snooker Federation. He was recently elected the President of ''FORCE'', a global freight forwarding network spread across 40 countries.
The National Shipping Board, a statutory body, consists of four MPs from the Lok Sabha and two MPs from the Rajya Sabha, besides some technical people, the release added.
