Kochi, Sep 2 (UNI) Nearly 650 atheletes, including Olympians Renjth Maheshwary and Preeja Sridharan, will vie for honours at the 48th National Open Athletics Championship at Maharaja's College Stadium from September eight here.
Kerala will field 69 athletes, UP 60, Delhi 24, Railways 150, Services 80 and Indian Police 40 for the four-day championship.
The championship is being held in Kerala after a gap of 23 years and the athletes, representing various teams have started practising at the stadium.
In the last championship held at Jamshedpur, Railways was the champion.
The logo of the championship, which encapsulates Arabian sea, chinese net and the setting sun, was released here.
Triple jumper Renjith Maheshwary and long distance runner Preeja Sridharan, after their stint in the Beijing Olympics, will be participating in the championship.
