14 players found over age, banned from Challenge Cup

Chandigarh, Sep 2 (UNI) Fourteen players, including four from Mohun Bagan Sail Football Academy (West Bengal) and six of Orissa Football Academy, were debarred from participating in the sixth Administrator's Challenge Cup All-India Football Tournmaent for Under-17 after they were declared over age.

Dr Sharad, a member of the medical board formed by the Chandigarh Sports Department, of Sector 16 Government Hospital said on August 31, 28 players required further examination to determine their age.

The boys were first examined at the Kisan Bhawan and those suspected to have crossed the stipulated age were later taken to the Government Hospital in Sector 16 for X-ray and other tests.

Among the 28 players sent to the hospital, 14 were debarred from participation.

The following players have been debarred from participation: Orissa Football Association: Abdul Kadir Khan, Jubeer, Imran Khan, Mohit Singh, Jakir Khan. Himachal Pradesh: Abhishek Kumar, Prashant.

Chandigarh Football Academy: Lalraut Fela. Tamil Nadu Football Association: C Ayyavu, A Sakthivel. Mohun Bagan Sail Football Academy, West Bengal: Sourav Chakraborty, Sandipain Dutta, Amit Saha and Apollo Rongmei.
