Youth Congress rally supports PM's package

Guwahati, Sep 1 (UNI) The Assam Pradesh Youth Congress today hailed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's special package for Assam during his last week's visit to the state.

They took a motorcycle rally in the city which was flagged off by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. Members of several indigenous students' and youth organisations participated in the procession.

Terming Dr Singh's package as visionary, Mr Gogoi said it was the first time that such a mega package was announced for the state.

Taking a dig at the Opposition for criticising the Prime Minister's move, he said the Opposition was a disillusioned lot and had failed to see the vast dimensions the package had opened.

APCC president Bhubaneswar Kailta and state Cabinet minister Bharat Narah were also present on the occassion.

Another rally would be flagged off from Guwahati tomorrow that would travel till Sadiya, the eastern most end of the state, to raise awareness regarding the incentives in the package.
