Nashik, Sep 1: A 57-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death and her grand-daughter was seriously injured by a relative at DGP Nagar here yesterday over a family dispute.
The woman, identified as Mandakini Chandwadkar, and her grand-daughter, Tejas Thorat, were in the house when the accused, Ganesh Dusane, a resident of CIDCO, Nashik and brother of her daughter-in-law, visited her and threatened her to find another accommodation and live separately from his sister and her husband. He also demanded money from the victim. When she refused to do so, he allegedly attacked Mandakini with a knife, injuring her seriously.
He also attacked Tejas.
After that, he escaped from the backdoor of the house. When the neighbours learnt about the incident, they rushed the two to hospital. But, Mandakini died before admission. Tejas has been admitted to a private hospital.
Later, police arrested Dusane, his mother Latabai and two brothers Mahendra and Mukesh. A case has been registered against them under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
