2 Medical colleges of Manipal Univ derecognised
Manipal, Sep 1: The Union Health Ministry submitted a report to Manipal University on Monday, Sep 1, stating that two medical colleges of the University have been derecognised due to falling standards of its education system, explained Naresh Dayal, Union Health Secretary. The Government has clearly stated that the University has admitted more number of students than the rules permit. Manipal University has admitted more than 650 students whereas the rule states only 250 students in the medical college. Among the 650 students, 250 students are from Malaysia. Students from West Indies have also been given admission.
The University also accomodates a dental college which is not been permitted. However, the Government has appealed that if the University meets the standards of the Government then the colleges can regain its recognition.
