Tumour removed successfully from one-month-old baby

Chennai, Sep 1 (UNI) A team of paediatric surgeons in Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre has performed a highly skilled minimally invasive surgery on a one-month-old baby to remove a five cm tumour from left side of the adrenal gland of his body.

A release from the Medical Centre here said the surgeons had removed the tumour by making four small openings. Thanks to the expertise and miniaturised instruments to perform such minimally invasive surgery. The baby is recovering well, it said.

The tumour was diagnosed when the baby was 30-week-old in the mother's womb. Since then, the doctors were keeping a close eye on the mother and the activities of the baby.

After the baby was born by normal delivery, Paediatric surgeons had successfully removed the tumour last week, the release added.
