SC grants 2-weeks time to UP govt in BJP MLA murder case
New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted two weeks time to two main accused --independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari and his MP brother Afzal Ansari-- in BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case, to respond to petition of the CBI, seeking transfer of the murder trial outside UP.
The CBI had filed a petition in the apex court that owing to the terror of the two main suspects in Ghazipur, UP coupled with their political clout no prosecution witness can dare to depose against them in the court.
Two witnesses in the case have already been killed.
A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan today adjourned the case by two weeks.
