Jammu, Sep 1 (UNI) Congratulating the people of Jammu on their victory in Amarnath land row and expressing his solidarity, eminent political and social scientist K Govindacharya today said 'homeland' to Kashmiri pandits would be the only significant component of any rational Kashmir solution.
''Rehabilitation of the exiled Kashmiri Pandits in their traditional soil will be the best step in fighting disintegrating menace of Pakistan,'' Mr Govindacharya, who was the special invitee in the media interaction here said.
Criticising the delayed decision over the issue, Mr Govindacharya said, ''No body even the government of India will be allowed to make any compromise on the sovereignty of the country while article 370 is a root cause in distancing the Centre-state relations.'' However, Mr Govindacharya further said, ''We should not fall in this trap of minoritism and the Centre should stick to Parliament resolution of 1997, which stands for freeing of PoK from Pakistan.'' Reacting to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's remarks over the 'peace deal' as unilateral, the former BJP national general secretary said, ''This is an irresponsible and dishonest statement and I think that the Jammu agitation turned to be a success as it has been focused without any political interest.'' ''Pragmatic and practical approach need to be opted on Kashmir issue and the nation indeed needs a strong movement to defend its national interests and integrity,'' Mr Govindacharya added.
Meanwhile, the leader also criticised the delayed reaction of the Centre to the Jammu agitation and said, ''First of all the union government does not recognise the problems and when they do, they (Centre) try to suppress it. And if even the Centre fails, then they go for a solution.'' UNI VBH SB RAI2153
