Itanagar, Sep 1 (UNI) Four people, including a 'major' of the NSCN(IM), were arrested by the Arunachal Pradesh Police from different parts of the state capital.
Official sources said here today the cadres were arrested at Naharlagun on Friday while they were travelling in a private car.
One of their associates was also arrested from here on the same day.
Among the four arrested, Nokngam Wangsa alias Wangsia (36), who hails from Longphong village in Tirap district, had admitted to being a 'major' in the outfit and was living at the outfit's general headquarters at Dimapur in Nagaland.
Wangsa received arms training in Burma and was an NSCN(K) member from 1986-2000. He joined the outfit's IM faction in 2001, the sources informed.
Another of the arrested, Wangnam Nokte (50) is a former Assam Regiment personnel who retired in 2002.
The seized car bearing Assam registration number belongs to him, the sources informed, adding that Rs one lakh, besides two mobile handsets, were recovered from him. He, however, denied being an NSCN cadre.
The third person, Janlung Wangpan (25) hails from Longphong village in Longding subdivision in Tirap district and was likely to join the outfit this September, the sources disclosed.
Investigation revealed that the trio came to Itanagar on August 26 and was staying in a hotel here.
In the course of their stay in Itanagar, Wangsa contacted one Oyar Panor, who was also arrested later, the sources added.
