Nandan Bal to stay India's chief coach

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The AITA today announced that Nandan Bal will continue to be India's chief coach for the Davis Cup tie against Romania, which begins from Septmeber 18.

Talking to mediapersons here, AITA general secretary Anil Khanna also announced the four-member support staff for the Indian team.

''Nandan Ball will be the chief coach for the team while Vece Paes will be the team doctor. We have included Shyamlal Vallabjee and Sanjay Singh as two trainers of the players,'' Khanna said.

''Players can bring their personal trainers with them but we will certainly not take their interference in the team discussions,'' he added.

S P Misra's appointment as the new non-playing captain of the Indian team had already been announced before for the tie. Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Prakash Amritraj and Somdev Devverman are the players in the team as Rohan Bopanna was sidelined considering the surface on the tournament will be played.

''S P Misra has been with the team for quite sometime and knows the players well, so he was made the captain of the team,'' Khanna said.

In an another development, AITA re-elected Yashwant Sinha as its president and Khanna as Secretary General for the 2008-2012 term in its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Goa on August 30.

S M Krishna was elected as the Honorary Life President while Bharat N Oza as Honorary Joint Secretary, Prof T D Francis as Honorary Treasurer and Executive Committee members were the other elected members of AITA.
