Jaya denies CM's charge on 'Kar Sevaks'
Chennai, Sep 1 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today denied Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi's charge that her party had sent ''kar sevaks'' for demolition of the Babri Masjid.
In a statement here, she said Mr Karunanidhi made the allegation many times before and repeated it now, which deserved severe condemnation.
''I categorically state the AIADMK has never sent its volunteers as ''kar sevaks'' for demolition of the Babri Masjid,'' she said and challenged Mr Karunanidhi to prove his charge.
''Mr Karunanidhi should hereafter, stop making such false allegation,'' she added.
'Having described the Muslims as terrorists,' Mr Karunanidhi had no moral right to talk about secularism and accuse the AIADMK of being communal, she alleged.
On Mr Karunanidhi's sarcastic remarks the DMK would not mind admitting her into the party though she faced corruption charges, the AIADMK leader said the situation would never arise.
Mr Karunanidhi had made the remarks when asked about Former AIADMK Minister T M Selvaganapathy, who was convicted in a corruption case, joining the DMK.
Ms Jayalaltihaa said the corruption cases were foisted against her by the previous DMK regime and she was proving them false by getting acquittals.
The cases were filed when the DMK came to power during 1996-2001.
Though she was Chief Minister during 2001-06, she never tried to withdraw the cases. On the other hand, she chose to face them bravely.
She said the day was not far when the sycophent of Mr Karunanidhi would come to her 'begging for admission into the AIADMK,' she claimed.
