The three-day fair is popularly known as the Trinetreshwar Mahadev Mela as it is held near Trinetreshwar temple, which according to folklore, is in the mythological ''Panchal'' region, the native place of Draupadi.
The Fair also includes a ''swayamvar'' every year.
