HFA to hold Haryana Football League from Sep 12

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) In a bid to further promote the game of football in both urban and rural areas, the Haryana Football Association (HFA) is all set to organise a league with the participation of 11 clubs in the state from September 12 at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurgaon.

Announcing the League at a press conference here today, All India Football Federation President Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said, ''It is very necessary to organise Football Leagues, especially in Haryana, because there are lots of talented players in the state and these talents should be brought into fore.'' ''Without these kinds of Leagues played in the country, the game cannot grow. And with the start of the Haryana League, the players would be benefitted,'' he marked.

Dasmunsi further said, ''Haryana has a great sporting environment.

Apart from this, National team's coach Bob Haughton has also said that there is no dearth of talented players in Haryana.'' ''I hope that in the coming years, the country can get some good football players from Haryana, '' he remarked.

Speaking about the game and its players, he said, ''For a football player, it very necessary to keep himself fit; which can help him get into the field with full competance.'' ''FIFA has asked us to hold football leagues in the country and in about 18 member states the leagues have been played,'' Dasmunsi informed, adding,''till now football has been played in an unprofessional way in the country, and this is the reason we are left behind in this game. But now, football will grow in this country.'' Dasmunsi, while speaking about the Indian football team, said,''The AIFF have to reduce the quantum of foreign players from the team and a decision on this regard would be taken by the end of this year.'' Adding words to Dasmunsi's views, HFA president Dipendra Hooda said, ''Haryana is no less when it comes to talents and competance.

We can also become the strength of the country in football.'' Hooda said 56 matches will be played during the league it and each participating teams will get Rs 1 lakh as an appearance money.

''Winner of the league will get Rs 10 lakh; Rs 6 lakh to the runners-up team; while the third and the fouth position holder will get Rs 2 and a half lakh each,'' he stated.

Seperate awards for best forward, best half, best defender, best goal-keeper, fair play and Player of the League will also be given away.

All the matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays both in Gurgaon and Faridabad as per the norms and rules of AIFF, he said.

Football wings, nurseries and a National Football academy at village Bhondsi, Gurgaon will be established in the 30 acre of land, Hooda informed, adding,''Process to recruit talented and established football players in Government and private companies are on.'' UNI PY AB PM1855
