Corruption a bane of any civilised society: Prithviraj Chavan
New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Minister of State in the Prime Minister's office Prithviraj Chavan today said corruption is the bane of any civilised society.
Speaking at a inter school debate competition organised by the Rajiv Gandhi foundation, Mr Chavan said that under the UPA regime, the government shifted focus from urban to rural development with special care to ensure transparency in government functioning.
In this contex, he said one of the achievements of the UPA Government was registration of the Right to information Act.
He said that efforts were being made to curb corruption by instilling accountability in the Government systems.
Mr Chavan also gave away prizes to winners of the competition.
