Armed forces, CRPF, VHP chip in to help Bihar flood-affected

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The Army, Navy and Air Force today jointly announced donating two days' ration for the Bihar relief operations.

Announcing this today, chairman of the chiefs of staff said all the three wings of the armed forces would be contributing and distributing two days' ration for the flood-affected in Bihar.

The CRPF also said all its personnel will donate one day salary for the flood victims.

This would amount to over Rs three crore (Rs 31,096,068), said the CRPF spokesman, adding the amount would be given to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

The VHP also sent a cheque for Rs ten lakh to the Bihar government for the flood relief operations.

''While a truck load of relief material was being sent today, ten trucks carrying relief package would be sent in the next two days,'' said VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia.

While announcing setting up of a Bihar Disaster Relief Fund to help those affected, Swami Ramdev of Patanjali Yogapeeth today said Rs two crore has been contributed to this fund with immediate effect for the nearly 40 lakh flood affected in Bihar.
