Three varieties of linseed and yello mustard identifed
Ranchi, Aug 31 (UNI) Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) varietal identification committe for oilseeds has identified three high-yeilding varieties of linseed and yellow mustard.
These varieties were identified by agriculture scientists participating in three-day annual meeting of All India Coordinated Research Project on Linseed and Safflor organised at Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) here.
The linseed variety LCK-5021 developed by project coordinbation unit, Kanpur has been identifed for Zone-2 comprising states like Uttar Pradesh (except Bundelkhand), Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Similarly, another linseed variety SLS-67 was found superior in the national checks by 22.39 per cent and in zonal checks by 20.15 and 22.62 per cent in terms of seed yeild.
The variety has been identified for Zone-3 comprising Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh.
Besides, yellow mustard variety NRCYSO5-02 developed by National Research Center for Rapseed and Mustard, Bharatpur has distinct superiority to the checks in terms of seed yeild and oil content.
Dr B N Singh, Director-Research at BAU, said that all the varieties would be available very soon.
