Kolkata, Aug 31 (UNI) Habibur Rahman turned saviour for Mohun Bagan in final minutes depriving Mohammedan Sporting their first half lead in a 1-1 tie at Yuba Bharati Krirangan today in the return leg of Sahara Premier League that promised a grim battle ahead for ''three bigs''.
Theodore Sunday, who missed the previous tie against George Telegraph due to foot injury, shot home in at added time from a penalty in first half. Referee Dhanapathy Roy called for spot kick after Teodore was brought down by Mohan Raj minutes before break.
Theodore's goal was his eighth in the eight-team championship that took him atop the goal getter in the domestic league.
As the second half began Mohun Bagan became desperate for an eqaliser with coach Karim Bencherifa employing Jose Ramirez Barreto and Lal Kamal Bhowmick to spearhead the attack.
Md Sporting could have added two more goals in their kitty had Lalchhuan Awma was on target.
As four minutes added after ending the scheduled time, Bagan were given a set-piece chance.
Lalkamal's shot was back headed by Barreto at far end and unmarked Habibur Rahman Mondol volleyed home to give Mohun Bagan an important point to share with Md Sporting.
In the first leg, Md Sporting defeated Bagan 2-1.
Both are now on 24 points. But Bagan will have to play three more matches while Md Sporting's two.
Defending champions Bagan will now play against George Telegraph, East Bengal and Calcutta Port Trust, while Md Sporting will take on Chirag United and CPT.
East Bengal have now 21 points from eleven matches.
Bagan coach Bencherifa Karim after the match said he was not happy with the scoreline but he congratulated his boys showing grit till last moment.
Man-of-the-Match Shaikh Azim said Md Sporting, who last won the league in 1981, will have to wait on the results of other teams.
