Lahore, Aug 31 : Cases of food poisoning might shoot up in Pakistan during the month of Ramzan because people tend to eat food prepared in open markets without proper hygiene, a leading doctor in Lahore has reportedly said.

Additional Medical Superintendent (Addl MS) at the Mayo Hospital's Emergency Ward, Dr Abdul Aleem said last evening that people suffering from food-related diseases usually visited the emergency ward with complaints of gastroenteritis, typhoid, dehydration, acidity and diarrhea, which generally increased in Ramazan, reported the Daily Times.

He added that the people should avoid consuming openly-available eatable items and beverages, especially all fried things like samosas and pakoras, to stay out of danger.

As a precautionary measure, he also urged the people to avoid overeating, and to concentrate on liquids to keep themselves healthy during Ramazan.
