Panaji, Aug 30 (UNI) Goa NCP general secretary Surendra Furtado today asked the state government to file a criminal complaint against Chief Secretary of Karnataka for claiming that Goa is a part of Karnataka through a ''malicious and fradulant'' affidavit filed in the Supreme Court recently.

Interacting with mediapersons here, Mr Furtado said if Goa government fails to file the FIR in a police station, he would take the initiative in doing so to ''become Raj Thackery of Goa''.

He regretted that the state government was not aware of the affidavit filed in the apex court by the Karnataka counterpart in June last in response to a petition seeking annexation of some parts of Karnataka with Goa.

''The Goa goverment should intervene in the case immediately and file the FIR against Karnataka Chief Secretary for his false and malafide affidavit,'' he said.

The Portuguese have no right to claim Goa as part of Portugal just because they ruled the state for 400 years before it was liberated.

So are the British to claim India as their own?'' Mr Furtado wondered.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had, in the just-concluded session of the state Legislative Assembly assured the House that he would direct the state's advocate in the Supreme Court to obtain a copy of the affidavit filed by Karnataka for doing the needful.

He was responding to a call attention notice moved by Damodar Naik of BJP in response to media reports on the issue.
