Munsaw wins International Junior Tennis Championship

Karachi, Aug 30 (UNI) Fourth seed Vaidik Munshaw of India lifted the boys singles title of Askari Bank ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championship (third leg) defeating unseeded Ariez Elyaas Deen of Malaysia in straight sets 6-2-6-1 at the PTF Complex here.

In the first set, Manshaw built up the lead 4-0 by breaking second and fourth games of Deen, in which he made three double faults yesterday.

Munshaw was in full command throughout the set with his mix shots. He played good serve volley and a number of times forced Deen to made unforced errors. He won the first set at 6-2.

The Indian kept up the good work in the second set and took a 3-0 lead by breaking second game of Deen, in which he made two double faults.

Manshaw won the second set at 6-1 by breaking the sixth game of Deen. By winning this championship, Manshaw got 30 ITF points where as Deen got 20 points.

It was a double joy for Manshaw as he along with Abhishek won the boys doubles title by beating Kapur Shikhar and Anand Kunal 6-1, 6-1 in a one-sided final.

However, in the doubles for girls, Saadgi Rajani and Shalaka Manjunath of India surrendered meekly to the Thai duo of Luksika Kumkhum and Peeraya 6-1, 6-2.

Kumkhum of Thailand won the consecutive third singles title of girls singles event by eliminating Carol Augustine-Benito of Spain in straight set 6-1, 6-1.

A total number of 125 players from 12 countries India, Thailand, China, Egypt, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, Nepal, Australia, Spain, Indonesia, UK, and host Pakistan participated in the boys and girls singles, and doubles events in the three ITF tournaments.
