Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said it was not fair at this juncture to woo the Tatas to set up their Rs one lakh Nano car manufacturing plant in the state.
Asked at a press confernece whether invitation would be extended to the Tatas to shift their plant from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu, Mr Karunanidhi said it would not be fair to invite the company at this stage, as the project work had already commenced in that state.
''Inviting them to Tamil Nadu at this stage is not fair. Such a situation does not arise,'' he said, adding the Tatas had also not approached the state in this regard.
The prestigious project had hit a road block in West Bengal following protests by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee who had been demanding the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Government to take back the 400 acres of land given to the Tatas.
As the protests mounted, the company withdrew its staff from the project site, citing security concerns.
