Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) The wife of Indian Doctor Mohammed Haneef who was arrested in Australia last year and later deported, today expressed relief over 'the truth ultimately prevailing' on the family.
Reacting to the Australian Federal Police deciding to drop the case against the doctor, his wife Firdous told the visiting reporters at her father's house in Banashankari in the city that the family was always believed that Haneef had done nothing wrong and was wrongly 'framed'.
"We are really relieved. We had already proved our innocence and it was only a time that the Australian police realised their fault," she said.
The 28-year-old Doctor, who was arrested in Brisbane over the failed bombing attempt on Glasgow airport in UK, is now in Dubai.
However his family did not say what he was doing in the Gulf.
He was working in a Brisbane hospital before he was arrested in the airport while he was leaving for India to see his newborn child.
The Australian police had yesterday decided to stop further proceedings on the case for want of evidence.
