East Bengal outclasses Railway Footbal Club 3-0

Kolkata, Aug 30 (UNI) Riding on a late burst, Kolkata giant East Bengal today snuffed out the challenge of Railway Footbal Club 3-0 here today.

The first half was goalless.

In the second half, East Bengal went all out and surged ahead in the 78th minute when Mehrasuddin headed home (1-0).

East Bengal buttressed their lead with in the next seven minutes when Edmilson's leftfooter found the net (2-0) and then Nirmal Chetri banged in a header (3-0).

The win brought East Bengal close to arch rival Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting on the points tally.

While East Bengal stood at 21 points from eleven matches, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting stood at 23 points each.
