Drop Veerasamy: Ramadoss urges, says power cut hits all
Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader S Ramadoss today urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to replace Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy with an able minister, who could tackle the present power crisis in the state.
In a statement here, he said as all sections of the society were affected by power cuts in the state, the Chief Minister should appoint a new Electricity Minister who could fully concentrate in the department and retrieve the state from darkness.
Dr Ramadoss said the present power crisis had severely hit micro and small industries at a time when festivals were round the corner.
As the power crisis had hit the production line, it was doubtful whether the employees would be paid salaries during the festival time, he said.
He fuather said as the power cut was lasting from ten to 20 hrs, most of the villages were plunged in darkness. The power cut had also badly hit the drinking water distribution as overhead tanks could not be filled up, he said.
Dr Ramadoss added the present crisis could have been averted had the Power Minister and his department concentrated on power delivery system. Tamil Nadu could have been saved from power cut had there been a proper planning, he claimed.
