Jammu, Aug 30: At last there is a silver lining for the people of Jammu and Kashmir after two months of turmoil, violence and protests. The Govt has come out with a peace formula to solve Amarnath land row.
According to the peace formula the Centre has agreed to allow the Amarnath Shrine board to use the land for limited period of three months ie during the yatra, but has denied any transfer or ownership of the title. The Govt has stressed that there will be no change in title or proprietary rights over the land for use during the yatra. Structures built on land will be temporary and dismantled after the Yatra. Pre-fabricated structures will be allowed to come up on the land given for Yatra use.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting has been convened to discuss the 'peace formula', sources said. An announcement could come as early as this weekend. The JK Governor NN Vohra has consulted all political representatives on the formula. The PDP has however opposed the compromise formula.
It's a formula that could help calm the tensions in Jammu. If it triggers-off a fresh flare-up in the Valley, then God help Jammu.
