Veteran Marathi Actress Jayashree Gadkar passes away
Mumbai, Aug 29 (UNI) Veteran Marathi actress Jayshree Gadkar died here today after a brief illness. She was 66.
Jayshree Gadkar, who breathed her last this morning, was one of the last living legends of Marathi cinema.
Gadkar made her debut on the silver screen in 1955 as a group dancer in V Shantaram's ''Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje''. ''Aaliya Bhogasi'', ''Ghat Padli Thaka Thaka'', ''Sangtye Aika'', ''Avghachi Sansar'', ''Mohityanchi Manjula'', ''Saadhi Mansa'' and ''Manini'' are some of her celebrated movies.
She also made a mark on the small screen by playing the role of 'Kausalya' in Ramanand Sagar's tele epic ''Ramayan'' in 1980s.
Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and others, including renowned personalities from the film industry, have condoled her death.
She is survived by her actor husband Bal Dhuri.
