Jammu, Aug 29 (UNI) Following the Chinore massacre on city outskirts in which at least nine people were killed, the search operations in the bordering belts of Jammu region has been intensified while locals today noticed some ''suspects'' in the Bari Brahmana area, some 20-kms from here and informed the police, sources said.
''The locals observed suspicious movement and some suspects on the peripheries of Bari Brahmana area,'' sources told UNI asserting, ''police was immediately informed. Acting on a tip-off, security forces cordoned the area and launched the search operation.'' The searches started in the morning at around 1100 hrs and are still in progress till the last reports came in.
The search operations in the bordering belts of this region, city and its outskirts has been strengthened following Chinore attack while security forces are also patrolling the Kanhachak, Nikki Tawian, Nagrota, Gangyal, Bishnah Domana, Mishriwala and Gharota areas of the winter capital day and night, police sources added.
The security agencies however, not being aware of exact number of militants infiltrated from Kanhachak area on the intervening night of August 25 and 26, has sounded alert in Jammu, Security has also been beefed up around religious places and sensitive areas of the town.
''Not only police and the para-military forces are guarding various points but the locals are also patrolling their residential localities,'' a police source asserted.
