MP: Ipca to step into ayurveda medicine
Ratlam (MP), Aug 29: Pharmaceutical company Ipca Laboratories has started research in traditional medicinal system of Ayurveda with the objective of tapping its market potential.
''Ayurvedic drugs would be introduced through Ipca Traditional, a subsidiary set up especially for the segment. Ayurvedic drugs would be manufactured at our facility in Dehra Dun in Uttarakhand under the guidance famous Ayurvedacharya Balendu Prakash,'' Ipca President (Operations) Lal Nagori told reporters, while showing them the facility of the company.
He said the subsidiary would carry out new research in the field of ayurvedic cancer drugs.
The company, which clocked a turnover of Rs 1,085 crore in 2007-08, mostly through exports, started from a pharmaceutical unit here in 1983 and would commemorate its silver jubilee celebrations next year.
It has carved a niche for itself in the manufactures of drugs for hypertension, malaria, rheumatology, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
