Govt provides ten percent concession on yarn
Hyderabad, Aug 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Handlooms and Textiles P Sabita Reddy today said the State Government was providing ten per cent concession in yarn to the weavers and financial assistance to set up weaving sheds.
Replying to a question raised by Ch.Seetha Ramulu (CPI-M) during question hour in the Council, the Minister said the societies could purchase yarn either from the National Handloom Development Corporation or from the existing yarn depots of Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Organisation.
Ms Sabita said to help the weaving community, the Government was providing Rs 15000 to construct sheds along with the houses sanctioned to them under INDIRAMMA Housing scheme and pensions to the workers after attaining the age of 50.
Asked any measure initiated by the Government to implement the recommendation made by the Central Textiles Department, she said the Government had not received any recommendation so far. There was no need to set up yarn banks seperately, as the Government was providing enough yarn to the weavers, she added.
