Flood water receding in Sultanpurlodhi
Kapurthala, Aug 29 (UNI) The flood water has started receding in the 14 affected villages in the Mand areas of Sultanpurlodhi.
Deputy Commissioner JM Balamurugan today said that drainage department have installed seven heavy motors to drain out the water from the affected villages and water level has lowered to two hand a half feet from five and half feet.
He said that seven heavy motors and five inlets were draining out 1100 cusecs of water daily from the affected villages.
"The administration has stepped up the relief measures in the affected villages and distributed seven quintals of dry milk, three hundred liters of kerosene, seven quintals of pulses, tea leaves and 919 tarpaulins to relief camp at village Bharoana," he said.
The administration has deployed three medical teams at village Bharoana to provide medical facilities to the patients and five teams of veterinary doctors have examined four thousand animals of the affected villages, he said.
The DC disclosed that administration has given a grant of rupees one lakh each to the families of three persons who died in the floods in the district.
The administration has also distributed Rs 8.76 lakh to 438 flood victims so far.
