Flood threat recedes in Tamil Nadu
Madurai, Aug 29: The flood threat to five sthern districts of Tamil Nadu receded with the inflow into the Vaigai Dam slowly reducing today.
State Public Works Department (PWD) sources said though the flood threat to Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram Districts receded, the PWD was keeping a close watch on the water level of the dam. However, the situation was not alarming as of now.
The water level at Vaigai Dam stood at 66.31 feet as against its full capacity of 71 feet, they said.
The inflow into the dam was 1,915 cusecs as against yesterday's 2,111 cusecs.The discharge was maintained at a meagre 41 cusecs, tgey said.
