Bangalore, Aug 29 (UNI) Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Director General S Ramakrishnan today stressed the need for developing the eco-system for building secure E-Commerce.
"Given the rapid spread of internet in the country and the vulnerabilities of the users, it is important for India to develop the eco-system for building secure E-Commerce", he added.
Speaking after inaugurating a symposium on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) here, he said that 'the broad-band revolution and next generation mobile revolution driven by 3G will fuel growth in this segment and putting together PKI has to go hand-in-hand with broad-based participation and awareness to ensure safe and exponential growth. By conducting this pioneering series, C-DAC has been given an important technology as well as promotional role." C-DAC, the premiere R &D institution involved in design, development and deployment of advanced IT-based solutions under the Union Ministry of Communications and IT, organized the symposium which is the first in a series be held at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram in the next six months under the banner 'PKI Outreach Programme (POP)' to create awareness on the important topic of PKI, central to e-commerce, e-governance and other activities related to the Internet.
As part of the campaign, C-DAC will offer three types of programmes - one day symposia, two day workshops and three day training programmes, across the country during the next two years.
These programmes are targeted to provide insight into the PKI for adapting secure communications over the cyberspace on applications on e-governance, online transactions, E-commerce, etc.
Top officials from various government departments, police and fire forces, industries, banking and financial institutions, professionals and academia attended the Symposium.
