AP Govt taking steps to execute pending warrants: Minister
Hyderabad, Aug 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today while admitting pending of warrants for execution said the Andhra Pradesh Government was taking steps to execute them.
Replying to a query by K L Durgesh Prasad (Cong) during question hour in the Council, the minister denied the charge of a member that the police and criminals were hand-in-glove for pendency of thousands of warrants in the State.
Mr Reddy said all supervisory officers had been specially instructed for executing warrants, promptly for which Additional DGP, CID was the monitoring agency for the State. Special parties were formed at police station, division, district and commissionarate level for the execution of pending warrants, he added.
Stating that execution of warrants was given top priority in the monthly crime meetings of the unit officers, he said legal action was initiated on the sureties, where warrants were not executed for a long time, despite steps taken by police.
He said pending warrants had come down to 25,000, as against 38,000 during 2006.
