Mumbai, Aug 29 (UNI) The Mumbai 1993 bomb blast case accused Karimullah Khan today confessed about his involvement in the serial blasts, that killed 257 people and injured 625.
A CBI official, while moving a remand application before designated TADA court this afternoon, told the court that the accused has voluntarily recorded his confessional statment before a local megistrate today and the copy of it will be handed over to the designated court through the local court shortly.
According to sources in CBI, Karimullah confessed about his role in the landing of deadly arms and ammunation at the costal area of Raigad district in Maharashtra prior to the serial blasts that occurred on March 12, 1993.
In his confessional statement, the accused besides naming underworld don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, prime absconding accused Tiger Memon, Nasir Dakhla had also named the second approver in the case and two other convicts Ahtesham Haji and Munna Gupta.
The confession has also mentioned about the conspiracy which was hatched by other accused persons.
Soon after, CBI told the court that after his confessional statement was recorded the investigating agency does not require his custody any more, Judge U D Mulla remanded him in Judicial custody for fourteen days.
The court ordered to keep the accused at Arthur Road Jail in a separate cell, where other accused in the blast trial are also lodged.
Extradited don Abu Salem, his two associates Riyaz Siddiki, Qayum Ansari and Dubai deported accused Mustafa Dossa alias Mustafa Majnu were arrested by the CBI at the fag end of the trial, which was one of the lengthiest trials in the history of the Judiciary with it being in progress for 13 years.
Hence the case of these accused were separated from the other accused who faced the trial.
After the arrest of Khan on August 21, the number of accused who will face the trial has reached five.
