New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad today appealed the Centre to send relief material and reinforcement in the flood-affected areas of Bihar.
In a letter, he asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, United Progessive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other ministers at the Centre to increase the number of lifeboats and helicopters in the affected areas.
Sources close to Mr Prasad quoted him saying people were stuck in the areas of Madhepura, Supol, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar and Ariya.
''They are waiting to be transported to safe grounds. With the deployment of additional forces, boats and helicopters, the relief work can be speeded up,'' he added.
