Rly Station, airport under tight security, high alert in Jammu
Jammu, Aug 28 (UNI) In the wake of the militant attack in Chinore area, a high alert has been sounded in the winter capital of the state while the Jammu Railway Station, airport, bus stand and other sensitive areas of the town have been put under a tight security blanket, official sources said today.
The security agencies including state police, para-military forces and the Army have been directed to be more vigilant while additional forces have been deployed at the Jammu Railway Station and the airport as well, the sources said.
''As there is no accurate estimation about the number of infiltrators who crossed the International Border from the Kanhachak area and entered the Indian side Tuesday night, security in the Jammu region has been beefed up while special instructions have been given to the troops to be more alert,'' a senior police official told UNI.
Security at the railway station has been tightened and luggage and other items carried by the passengers are being frisked by the police. Dog squads have also been pressed into service.
Moreover, no vehicle being allowed to be parked outside the Jammu airport and vehicles are being checked properly.
''Additional troops of the para-military forces have been deployed at the periphery of the airport while security agencies are keeping close watch on all movement around the area,'' sources asserted.
Besides, security has also been tightened at the general bus stand and around religious places of the town while special ''nakkas'' have been erected in the city. Night patrolling has also been beefed up.
