Newspapers'association demands new advisory committee

K D Chandola, president of the Association said the DAVP Advisory Committee was ''partial'' and had conspired to keep out small and medium newspapers out of the panel.
He said the Association will consider holding a demonstration against the government if needed He said about 1200 newspapers were proposed to be listed in the panel of the DAVP but only 120 newspapers were accepted. ''We have sent a letter to I and B Minister to register our protest and demanded a new empanelment committee for DAVP and review of rejected cases,'' he quipped.
The Association has also sought to know about the Committee's working through a RTI query.
It will hold a seminar on ''Role and Responsibilities of Small and Medium Newspapers in Contemporary References'' early next month to highlight the grievances of these newspapers.
