IFFCO gearing up to distribute fertilisers
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 28 (UNI) The Indian Farmers Fertilisers' Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is gearing up to distribute fertilisers for the 'rabi' season beginning in October.
IFFCO has started assessing the quantum of fertilizer that would be required by the farmers in the delta districts covering Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and parts of Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur and Pudukottai districts, according to official sources here.
The sources said a consignment of 32,371 tonnes of urea, despatched from Oman by the Oman India Fertiliser Corporation, would reach the Tuticorin port by the first week of September. About 15,000 tonnes of the urea consignment would be distributed to the delta farmers while the remaining would be sent to other parts of Tamil Nadu.
Referring to the arrangements for DAP supply, the sources said IFFCO had recently despatched 2,577 tonnes of DAP (20:25 variety) from Paradeep to Madurai. The consignment was recently received at Madurai and distributed in Madurai, Theni, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts.
Another consignment of 2,577 tonnes (20:20:013 variety), also sent from Paradeep, had reached Tirunelveli. It would be distributed in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanniyakumari and Virudhunagar districts, the sources said adding that steps were taken to supply 2,500 tonnes of DAP to the delta farmers in Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruchirapalli districts and part of Pudukottai district.
