Committee selects site for Suvarna Soudha construction
Bangalore, Aug 28 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar, who is the Chairman of a Committee for selecting site for 'Suvarna Soudha' at Belgaum, today announced that it would be set up at Halaga-Bastwad.
Mr Shettar told reporters here that the Committee had selected Halaga-Bastawad, about five km from the city, near the National Highway towards Dharwad.
Farmers from the area have come forward offering their land for construction of the Soudha for holding the winter session of the House, he said.
Mr Shettar said the Committee had also selected an alternative site at Kankarahatti in case of any problems arose during land acquisition.
Both the places are near to the city, airport and have rail and road links, he said.
'Suvarna Soudha' would be built as a multi-purpose project with a heritage garden to make it a tourist attraction, he said.
The Committee report would be submitted to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa soon.
