BSP holds conference near Rahul's rally venue; minor clashes
Allahabad, Aug 28 (UNI) Rahul Gandhi's launching of election campaign in Uttar Pradesh from his ancesteral home town witnessed wild protests by the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)leaders mostly by those who had left the Congress in the recent past.
Allahabad known as a cultural, religious and intellectual hub also witnessed some minor clashes between the activists of both the parties in the city during the day.
BSP also held a conference in the heart of the city at Civil Lines, just a few meters from the Congress public meeting, where former Congress MLA and the probable BSP candidate from Allahabad Lok Sabha seat Ashok Bajpayee was the key speaker.
The BSP leaders alleged that Rahul was just targetting the Mayawati government for political reasons and in their speeches they described how the Congress had ignored the party workers and leaders.
Congress state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who also hails from the city, said the BSP act was a mere frustration as they know that after the alliance between Congress and Samajwadi Party, BSP has no hope for their desired success in the Lok Sabha elections.
