Ujjain, MP, Aug 28 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today said that the Bharatiya Janata Party initiated its scheme of yatras in various parts of the country with the objective of keeping democracy alive and strengthening it.
While addressing a public meeting coinciding with the flagging off of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's 'Janashirwad Yatra', Mr Advani said, ''my Somnath-Ayodhya Yatra began from the Somnath jyotirlinga while Mr Chouhan's is beginning from Mahakaleshwar that is principal among the 12 jyotirlingas.'' He claimed that the Somnath Yatra provided him the opportunity to comprehend a lot on the country's development and how to strengthen democracy, unity and integrity.
''The BJP is a party whose leaders and spokespersons never miss opportunities to share joys and sorrows of rural people through the medium of yatras. Mr Chouhan conducted a considerable amount of public welfare work and the BJP should be given another term,'' Mr Advani added.
