Authority to address complaints against medical institutions setup
Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) The Punjab Government today constituted an nodal authority for entertaining complaints with regard to the violations of provisions of the Punjab Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission, Fixation of Fee and Making of Reservation) Act, 2006.
A notification to this effect has been issued in the official gazette here. The authority consists of three members namely Mr Justice (Retd.) Amarbir Singh Gill, Dr R P Bambah, Former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University and Dr K K Talwar, Director of PGI, Chandigarh.
The nodal authority would take a suo moto notice of violations of the provisions of the Act or any direction or notification issued thereunder.
Punjab Medical Education Minister Tikshan Sud said that this independent authority had been constituted, keeping in view numerous complaints being received against private medical institutions and also to address grievances of medical institutions.
He said that this authority would provide an objective forum to the public and the institutions to redress their grievances.
