New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) The Congress today tore into the BJP and the Sangh Parivar for using the Naxalite attempt to create unrest in Orissa as an excuse to wreak havoc and destruction on the properties of the minorities, especially the Christians.
''The BJP and its ancillary organisations like the VHP, Bajrang Dal and others deserves strongest condemnation for yet again following the path of spreading mistrust and disaffection,'' AICC Spokesman Abishek Manu Singhvi told mediapersons here.
''Whether we talk about Orissa or Kanpur we get the same message of divisiveness which became BJP's brand name and visiting card.'' Alleging that the communal agenda of the BJP was naked, he said the Sangh Parivar had gone to the extent of calling for the resignation of its ministers in Orissa.
In this context, he said the ''rank communalists'' like Praveen Togadia was allowed to rule freely at the sensitive time to create further tension.
''While the object was to provoke and incite clashes, minorities, especially Christians were singled out for persecution,'' Dr Singhvi said.
Pointing out that the BJP and its allies were prepared to go to any length in their design and object to make Mr L K Advani as the Prime Minister of the country, he said their ''nefarious design'' was bound to fail as the people knew their true colours.
He said it was the same colour that the Sangh Parivar had reflected in Kanpur where activists of the same organisations made ''clumsy attempts to create chaos.'' ''Gujarat, Orissa, Kanpur and so many other episodes are stark reminders of the BJP and the Sangh Parivar design to create division in the country and volcanise every district and state and make the country ungovernable for narrow political agenda,'' Dr Singhvi said.
