No decision on upgradation of state University : Monserrate

Panaji, Aug 27 (UNI) Goa government is yet to decide as to whether the State University should be upgraded into a Central University or not, Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate told the State Legislative Assembly today.

Replying to a call attention motion of Laxmikant Parsekar and Damodar Naik (both BJP MLAs) after the Question Hour, the Education Minister said the Goa Educational Development Corporation had organised a day-long seminar to solicit the views of educationists and other stake holders on the issue.

The government would take the final decision only after taking all the members of the House and stake holders into confidence in the overall interest of the State, he said.

He said the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development had offered upgradation of the Goa University into a Central University with no central institution in the state.
