NIS plans indoor, outdoor shooting ranges

Patiala, Aug 27 (UNI) Encouraged by Abhinav Bindra's golden feat in shooting at the Beijing Olympics, the NIS here has drawn plans for a full-fledged shooting range, both indoor and outdoor.

The project for the shooting range at the NIS has been approved by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the CPWD was on the the job to prepare the drawings and estimates, NIS Executive Director Laxman Singh Ranawat told UNI.

Mr Ranawat, who has returned from Beijing two days back, said shooting will receive all the encouragement required to train talented shooters at the NIS in view of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.

The NIS had already set-up an indoor 10m Air Rifle shooting range in May last year which evoked a good response from young shooters, he said.
