JDP-sponsored bandh registers partial impact in Hooghly
Hooghly, Aug 27 (UNI) A 12-hour bandh, called by a regional outfit Jharkhand Disham Party (JDP), registered partial impact in this district, as the agitators blocked train movement.
The JDP had called the bandh to demand inclusion of Bankura district of West Bengal in Jharkhand.
The agitators disrupted train movement in the Howrah-Bardhaman and Howrah-Tarakeswar sections, causing delay of several local as well as long-distance trains.
Offices, banks and other establishments in Hooghly district also registered poor attendance as the daily commuters could not reach their destinations following disruption in train movement.
However, the bandh was peaceful with no untoward incident being reported from anywhere in the district so far, police said.
