Interstate gang arrested for looting petrol pumps
Patiala, Aug 27 (UNI) Police have arrested five persons of an interstate gang involved in over a dozen cases of looting petrol pumps in Punjab and Haryana on GT Road.
Addressing a Press conference at Rajpura, DSP Bhupinder Singh said that five persons on two motorcycles were intercepted near Amairpur village this morning by Chowki incharge Kuldeep Singh at the police checkpost.
They tried to flee in opposite direction but police team overpowered them and recovered a revolver of .32 bore from one of them.
The five, indetified as Ravi Kumar, Kala, Pawan and Raju of Dhuri (Sangrur) and Raja Ram of Dhanola of Sangrur district, have confessed over 12 incidents of crime which they have committed in last two months on the GT road.
Police have registered case against them under sections 382, 342, 148, 149 IPC and 25/4 under arms act, he said.
